Live on Spotify is teaming up with Rolling Loud Miami from July 22-24 to host live interviews and performances to celebrate hip-hop’s big weekend. Conversations with various artists, both emerging and established, will be hosted around the festival grounds and backstage by Spotify’s creative director/head of urban music Carl Chery, Dissect and Last Song Standing podcast creator Cole Cuchna, DJ Akademiks, New Joints Live live audio host Brian “B. Dot” Miller and TV personality and host Amanda Booz.

Some of the pre-scheduled artist interviews include Fivio Foreign and Nardo Wick, with more to be announced. Live streamed performances will also be available from Fivio Foreign and Nardo Wick along with sets from Latto, A$AP Ferg and more.

Spotify’s team up with Rolling Loud Miami follows its livestream with Swedish House Mafia for the trio’s Coachella afterparty back in April, but with Rolling Loud, Live on Spotify’s activation is taken a few steps further to include an entire weekend exclusive, on-the-ground content and interviews. This is the next extension in the company’s push to move its live audio offerings to the forefront.

Originally launched in 2021 as a separate application called “Spotify Greenroom,” the platform’s push into live audio coincided with the rise of Clubhouse and other competitors in the live audio space. But since then, the streaming service has moved its live audio programming to the main application and rebranded it to Live on Spotify. Aligned with Spotify’s years-long mission to become a leader in all audio content, not just music, Live on Spotify has expanded rapidly in recent months to include a slew of new music- and culture-focused programming, including “Soundtrack Your Day,” a Gen Z-focused music show hosted by Ari Elkins.

To catch the Rolling Loud Miami interviews and performances, users can tune in live on Spotify’s mobile app. Interviews will be available for on-demand playback on Spotify’s “Live From…” feed, but performances are unavailable after the livestream, “maintaining the in-the-moment feeling experienced exclusively at a music festival,” the company explained in a press release. This live stream feed with interviews is available wherever Spotify is around the globe, though the live performances will only be available in the United States.

The licenses for live streaming music are different than those for on-demand music streaming. For Spotify’s live audio offerings, proper licensing is secured on a case-by-case basis.
